Here's some commonly asked questions regarding MusicIP Mixer. This first post will be updated to reflect current information.

Q. What documentation is available?

A. We're working on updated manuals. In the meantime, you can find some information on the web site:

MusicIP Mixer Help Pages

Q. Why does it take so long to do the initial analysis?

A. You might want to review the info in the FAQ.

The initial validation process will start slower as the program focuses on track it hasn't seen before, which will required full analysis. Once that part is done, the rest of the tracks will be fingerprinted to verify that the initial lookups were correct - the number of songs to validate will go down much faster at that point.

Q. The metadata in the mixer is out of sync with my files. How do I fix this?

A. If you use other programs which modify your files, and they do not update timestamps, MusicIP Mixer may not know the tags have changed. You can easily solve with using a forced refresh.

To do a forced refresh, clear the "Check file modification time on refresh" option on the General preferences. This means every time you refresh, it should always reload metadata from the file, whether or not it looks like the file has changed since the last refresh - this will be slower than a normal refresh, but will update all the metadata. Next, select All Genres and All Artists. Select all songs in the song view, then use Library Refresh. When it's done, all your metadata will be updated.

Q. When I click on a link to download free music, it pops up Internet Explorer instead of my default browser (typically Firefox). How do I fix this?

A. The discovery window is an embedded IE window, and wants to keep things "in the family". You can change this behaviour, though, my enabling the mip protocool. More information is available here:
