Hi everyone,
I'm new here. I just came across this program (MusicIP Mixer) after looking mood logic. What makes this better than mood logic (besides the basic version is free biggrin.gif )?
Also, apologies for my newbie questions about the development aspect. If I was to create a program, then would I simply use the fingerprinting function(s) provided? Then use the resulting PUID in a query to the musicDNS server? Or have I got something mixed up unsure.gif . Basically, I want to create a simple MP3 player, that can obtain the ID3 tags and correct the songs the user loads. Is musicDNS what I want? Also, I noticed that there is a new licensing plan, where it's free up to 5 million hits. Does this count if the program I create is sold (ie it's a commercial program)?
Thank you

Yes, that's correct. You can use libofa or genpuid to generate puid's and look them up on MusicDNS to get metadata. Up to 5m server calls per month are free, for commercial or free apps.

Forgot to ask. What is the difference between the analysis carried out by the functions provided and the analysis carried out here? Do they both do the same thing, or is one more efficient than the other? I was thinking of creating something like the one on the website, since I'm familiar with FMOD, but then I came across the fingerprinting functions available here. However, the obvious advantage is that the functions here can be used with MusicDNS, but which one is more efficient?
Thanks

Also, when you generate your MusicDNS key, you can provide info about your app - Name, URL, Description, and choose to make it public. Once you do this, it will end up a public directory we're setting up on MusicDNS so other people can find programs which are using MusicDNS.

That's brilliant! This service just gets better and better lol. Is this a new service that's growing, or has it been around for a while? I only got into this music analysis thing quite recently, so I may have missed it. I became interested since using MoodLogic, but they didnt really have a proper free vesrion.

I've been working on the music analysis routines for a long time now - something around 8 years I think. The consumer app (formerly Predixis MusicMagic Mixer, now MusicIP Mixer) is about 2 years old. The MusicDNS service was launched just this March.

Note that the mixer also has an API (HTTP based), so you can access various mixing routines if your users have the mixer installed and running. This is how the Slimserver support works. More info on that is here:
